If you can keep your head when all about you	만일 주위의 모든 사람이 이성을 잃고
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;	너를 비난할 때에 정신을 차릴 수 있다면
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,	모든 사람이 너를 의심할 때에 네 자신을 믿을 수 있고
But make allowance for their doubting too;	그들의 의심까지 너그러이 생각할 수 있다면,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,	만일 기다릴 수가 있고 기다림에 지치지 않는다면
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,	남에게 속임을 받고도 속임으로 답하지 않는다면
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,	미움을 받아도 같이 미워하지 않는다면
And yet don't look too gook, nor talk too wise;	그러고도 착한 체 하지 않고 지혜로운 양 말하지 않는다면,

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;	만일 꿈꿀 수가 있고 그리고도 그 꿈에 좌우되지 않는다면
If you can think - not make thoughts your aim;	생각할 줄 알지만 생각만을 목표로 삼지 않는다면
If you can meet with triumph and disaster	만일 승리와 재앙을 만나서
And treat those two impostors just the same;	이 두 사기꾼을 똑같이 다룰 수 있다면,
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken	네가 말한 진리가 악당들에 의하여
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,	어리석은 이들을 속이기 위해 왜곡됨을 참고 들을 수 있다면
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,	생애를 바친 사업이 한순간에 무너짐을 보고서도
And stoop and build them up with worn-out tools.	몸을 굽혀 낡아빠진 연장을 가지고 다시 건설할 수 있다면,

If you can make one heap of all your winnings	만일 모든 승리의 소득을 한꺼번에 모두
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,	단 한 번의 노름에 걸 수 있다면
And lose, and start again at your beginnings	그리고 잃고 나서 다시 처음부터 출발하면서
And never breathe a word about your loss;	한 마디도 손해 봤다고 중얼거리지 않는다면,
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew	만일 네 심장과 신경과 근육을
To serve your turn long after they are gone,	힘이 빠진 오랜 뒤에도 쓸모가 있게 하고 -
And so hold on when there is nothing in you,	마침내 아무것도 남지 않고 오직 의지만이
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";	"견디어라!" 할 때까지 견딜 수 있다면,

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,	만일 군중과 이야기하면서 네 덕을 지킬 수 있다면
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;	혹은 왕들과 동행하여도 평범한 맛을 잃지 않는다면
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,	만일 원수나 사랑하는 동지가 너를 상하게 하지 못한다면
If all men count with you, but none too much;	만일 모든 사람이 너를 의지하되 아무도 지나치게 의지하지 않는다면
If you can fill the unforgiving minute	만일 용서없는 1분 1분을 꼭 60초 동안
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -	달음질한 거리로써 가득히 채울 수 있다면
