마음의 평화

세상에서 가장 부자인 사람은 누구일까.

Most the person who is a rich man will be who from the world.

나는 그를 남태평양의 작은 섬에서 만났다.

I am born him Pacific Ocean met from the islet.

그는 커다란 야자나무 아래서

Him from huge coconut tree lower part

20억 불짜리 미소를 지으며 앉아 있었다.

그가 앉아 있는 해변 너머의 세계를 그는 본 적이 없고

따라서 말세에 대해 고민한 적도 없다.

음식과 물은 풍부하지 않았다.

가족을 먹이기 위해 날마다 그는 물고기를 잡아야 했고

섬 건너편에 있는 우물에서 물을 길어 와야 했다.

The water did to come long from the well which is on the island other side.

이러한 일들은 매일 아침 그에게 하나의 도전이었으며

날이 저물 때면 그는 일에 대한 만족함을 느낄 수 있었다.

파도의 중얼거림

The wave muttering,

새들의 노랫소리와 멀리서 이따금 들려오는 천둥소리

그것을 통해 그는 자신의 주인인 신과 대화했으며

세금을 낼 필요도 없고

보험회사나 노후 연금에 대해선 들어 본 적도 없었다.

유언을 남기거나 유산을 물려 주는 것에 대해서도 생각할 필요가 없었다.
